We have some unfortunate news to deliver. A combination of macroeconomic and industry factors have made it impossible for us to continue operating the Torch service, which will be discontinued as of September 1, 2020.
We did not reach this decision lightly. The founders have worked exhaustively over the last six months to find a solution that would allow us to continue both the service and development of the Torch products.
As we began to explore acquisition options, it became apparent none included a path forward that would allow us to continue the service. Once we knew that we could not continue the service either independently or as part of another entity, we decided to share the information immediately so you could make other arrangements.
As for your projects, you will be able to generate a download link and save them. They will be of limited utility, but will include the assets used and a simple JSON file describing the scenes. Web AR projects and Viewer Links will no longer work as of the service discontinuance date. We may also be able to advise you, on a limited basis, of other tools and/or contractors who can assist you in achieving your augmented reality goals.
We wish we were delivering better news. The team poured their energy and creativity into building something that would stand out in a field dominated by massive companies by putting the needs of creators like you first. On behalf of the team, thanks for being our most important supporters.
