Welcome to the XR Party

A growing community of designers, developers, and 3D inhabitants are building the future of computers and communication right here in Portland. The Pacific Northwest is filled with teams using extended reality (XR) technologies including augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), to give us new ways of interacting with media, data, and each other in immersive digital worlds.

XR is quickly evolving from quirky gadgets and glasses into new media and communications technologies that will power nearly everything we do. We are just beginning to understand how work, transportation, communication, or even how we present and interact with the world can be enhanced and enriched with virtual ideas and content.

But if the history of user experience (UX) in computing teaches us anything, we need to enlist a village of diverse perspectives and experiences in order to ensure that these new media are truly built for and benefit, everyone. That’s where we need your help. Even if you’re just hearing about AR and VR today, it’s still a great time to get involved and help us create the future of immersive, interactive 3D media.

XR is for everyone. Join the Party!

Torch and our pals Open Signal are throwing a party to celebrate the vibrant community that’s driving innovation in XR—and you’re invited. Register for the XR party, today.

To build these systems so they work for everyone we need you, your experiences, and your unique perspective as part of this XR revolution. This community event is for all experience and interest levels.

Meet creators who are building AR & VR apps, talk to the developers, learn from the researchers, and dive into experiences from the artists who are defining these new media and what they can mean for our lives.
